Mac OS X has an FTP server built in. Toactivate it, follow these instructions:

Let's now test the FTP server on Mac OS X with the following steps: Launch the Terminal.app. Type the following command to start the FTP server. Sudo -s launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/ftp.plist. Connect to the FTP server by running ftp localhost command.

1. From the Apple menu, select System Preferences...
2. In System Preferences, from the View menu, selectSharing.
3. Check the FTP Access (OS X 10.2.x and later) or AllowFTP Access (OS X 10.1.x and earlier) checkbox.

• FTP was removed in macOS High Sierra and macOS Mojave, but ftp and ftp server do remain in older versions of Mac OS and Mac OS X system software, even if the ftp server has to be manually activated with launchctl. In some older versions of Mac OS, you can even connect with ftp from the Finder however.
• FileZilla Server by FileZilla Project is a piece of software that gives you the possibility to install an FTP server on your computer. Sadly, there is no version of FileZilla Server for Mac available on the developer's website, so, you will have to use other applications to turn a Mac into an FTP server.

Once you have done this, all users with an account on your computerwill be able to connect to it via FTP using their usernames andpasswords. You must have an Internet connection before youcan use your computer as an FTP server, however.
